What is BATT?

The Blaine Area Tournament Team (BATT) is a select baseball program for kids ages 8-12 who play in Blaine Area Little League system.

Is BATT a replacement for Blaine Area Little League?

No. BATT is a supplemental program for players interested in early season competitive tournament play and winter/early spring workouts to enhance skill development through meaningful game play and practice experiences.

Is BATT the same as traveling or club baseball?

No. BATT will compete in similar tournaments to travel/club and provide Blaine Area Little League players early season competitive play opportunities but will not participate in Gopher State Baseball League or MBL/MBT. Some tournaments may be out of state.

If my child makes a BATT team, will it interfere with his/her regular baseball season?

Because all participants are required to play in the Blaine Area Little League program, the BATT season is 100% complementary to the Blaine Area Little League schedule.

How many tournaments will my child play in?

BATT will register to play a minimum of 3 tournaments for each team. A minimum of one tournament per year will be an out-of-town tournament.

When are the tournaments my child will play in?

Specific tournament information is TBD, however early season/spring (late April - early June) is the anticipated timing for tournaments.

How much is it for my child to play for BATT?

The registration fee is $275/player. This includes the player's uniform, tournament registration, winter/early spring practices/training (both indoor and outdoor weather depending).

Is there an additional cost for the tournaments?

While the registration fee will cover each player's uniform and tournament fees, each family will be responsible for their own travel expenses and accommodations associated with tournament play.

What equipment will my child need if he/she makes the team?

All players are required to have:

Bat (USA or USSSA is allowed in tournament play)
Batting Helmet
Protective Cup
Cleats
Baseball Glove

Which team should my child tryout for?

Please take a look at our player age chart. Your child should try out for the team corresponding to his or her age.

Can my child play up?

As an 8-year-old, a player may try out for the 9U team. Further BATT does not intend to have players play up.

How many players per team?

BATT intends to roster 11 or 12 players per team.

How many coaches per team?

BATT will enlist 1 head coach and 2 assistant coaches per team.

Are there buddy requests for teammates?

Unfortunately no, players will participate in a tryout and will be placed on a team based on their evaluation score.
